Greed, and how it affects our lives.

Jeremiah 6:13-15 (NIV)
From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit. They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace. Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them," says the Lord.

The world today is just as greedy as it was back in the days of Jeremiah the prophet. A perfect example is the Terri Schiavo case. The ones who want her to die say that she is resting peacefully, while those on the side of life speak out about the pain and suffering she is truly going through. This scripture was meant to warn the Israelites of their upcoming judgment from the throne of God, but since that has now passed, it has become a warning to future generations, telling us not to be greedy or we shall face the same punishment. Those people against life in this case will be judged by God when the time comes, so let us not worry, Terri is in the hands of God. This is to comfort those of us who feel sorrow for her. Now on with the rest of this study. These people were greedy but weren't ashamed. They'd gamble other peoples lives and not even wince. When they were found out, they never even felt bad about their greed. Greed has only one payment, its judgment. Greed isn't something to be played with, its dangerous to our relationship with God. Don't let greed reign over you, for greed can lead to even worse sins. Seeing that someone who sins has more then you and wanting it is greed, and to want what a sinner has is truly wanting what the world gives. I bet this gets to a few of you deep down. I myself can surprise myself with how truly greedy I am. I am ashamed of my greed and believe that the rest of you are too. Greed can rob us of the blessings of God, this is why it fills me with shame. If we have a lot, we are considered greedy by man, but it is our actions that tell us how greedy we truly are. Again I warn you, don't allow greed into your life, it is a sin and it will only lead to the judgment seat of Christ. God loves you, and so do I, this is His warning for His people, take it to heart, and don't be greedy anymore. Thank you.

Lord God,
You know us Lord God, how we act, how we feel, what we believe, as well as what we think. Our greed puts ourselves, as well as you to shame. Today, we make it our duty to stop being greedy. We ask this from you God, that you give us the heart to give, and take our desire to always receive out of us. Yes, we know desiring things is not bad when we put faith toward our desires and not whine when we don't get what we want. We thank you Lord God for helping to take our greed away from us, and for giving us the will to give in its place, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Let God's grace be upon all of you, and I hope this message strengthens all of our relationships with Christ as well as gives us peace when it comes to the circumstances of Terri Schiavo's life being at risk. I hope you all are blessed by this message. Love you all. Bye!
