An Anointed Word

Bible Version: King James

Romans 8: 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

In my journey this week I have found myself contemplating what does it mean: to be called by His name…so I decided to open the book within the book and see what would come forth: Song of Solomon1: 3 thy name is an ointment poured forth. Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower. Rev. 14:1 And they shall have the Fathers name written in their foreheads. Rev.13:1 a new name which no man knoweth. Phil. 2:9 a name, which is above all names. Isa. 57:15 whose name is holy.

Looking at the keywords in these verses I am wooed to go a little further. In exploring my thesaurus I found that name refers to: favor, identity, distinction, and calling. It also points to a choosing, delegation and appointment. Leaving me a still a little empty I headed back to my bible to explore verses on the calling of God.

2 Pet 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: 2 Tim 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. Phil 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Still not satisfied I moved onto the word garment: Mt 9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. This brought the word wineskin into play: Mt 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Amazed at how I had come full circle to something I had been made aware of recently…I began to find my peace in these words as well as a renewed thirst for more. Yet it is evident to me this thirst was for one thing alone an anointed word. Looking in the vines this word refers too: the use of the oil which made my path fill with light leading me right to: 1Sam 24:6, Ps. 2: 2, Ps.18:50, Ps. 89:38, 51 all expressing this is about “the Lords anointed.

Yet who will wait with me one hour? Who will be prepared to go in when the bride is called to have this oil in the lamp? Who will have the ear to hear when the Father says: This is the way walk ye in it? And finally who will heed the words of: 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

It occurs to me that the land that needs healing is within. It is in the places where “preoccupation” keeps one from deciding: here and now… to keep the appointment and walk in the identity He has called us to.. yet who will return to their first love and come?

In my journey I was reminded of a scripture that has set me to walk in such awe every time I read it. Daniel 10: 8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. Daniel 10: 9 Yet heard I the voice of His words: and when I heard the voice of His words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 11 And He said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when He had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12 Then said He unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words…

And that leaves only one more verse to include: Is 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
