We NEED Jesus!
Monday's Devotion (6-23-08)
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36 (KJV)
Some of us think that when we die, we automatically go to Heaven. We only go to Heaven, IF we accept Jesus Christ and His sacrifice... If we trust in Him with all our hearts, and believe that what He did on the cross gives us eternal life. The argument that most give on why a loved one went to Heaven is, "Because he/she was a great person." Nobody should doubt that someone is a great person, but being a great person doesn't get us into Heaven. Being forgiven gets us into Heaven, and we can only be forgiven if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior.
We've ALL made mistakes. We've all sinned, some have done things that we think is more sinful than things that we've done... But sin is sin and when it's not repented of, and when Jesus isn't in our hearts then that sin is deadly. Now, the example I'm going to give is IMPOSSIBLE, but let's give it anyway: Let's say you went through life and only committed one sin. You lied to someone to spare their feelings, or you stole to feed your family... If you don't have Jesus then you will not make it into Heaven! But the other "club," Hell as we call it has no problem accepting people. Let's face it, nobody wants to go to Hell and we don't want our loved ones to go either. There is something we can do, we can accept Jesus Christ and follow His ways. When we do then we can get our loved ones to see the light.
And the reason I said my example was "impossible," is because we all sin more than once. We sin countless times throughout the day, we do things that we don't even realize is sin. We NEED Jesus!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to be a light for you and to bring others to you. Touch the heart of those who haven't accepted you, so that they will know and accept the truth. In Jesus name. A-men!
