It’s Up To Us!

Thursday's Devotion (6-19-08)

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28 (KJV)

This is an awesome verse, because it tells us that all the barriers have been broken! When you're in Christ, it doesn't matter if you're a woman, a man, black, white, Jewish, or any other race. All that matters is that you are saved by the blood of Jesus! I truly don't believe that there are any true Christians out there that are racist. I don't believe that there are any true Christians out there that discriminate based on anything that we (humans,) cannot control. God made me who I am, and He made you who you are... If I cannot accept that simple fact, then how can I even begin to accept the love of God?

You know, I really thought that the young generation today was moving past racism. I thought they were getting a little smarter in that area, but I was wrong! Racism is a plague with no cure. As long as there are ignorant people there will be racism, and discrimination. Ignorant people cannot understand those who are different. They can't understand that people can't control who they are, what they were born as. I don't believe that Martin Luther King's dream ever became a reality fully. I mean look at all the stereotyping, which is a form of discrimination. You can't turn on a television without racial jokes or stereotyping. You can't go places without some form of racism happening. At my job a couple of weeks ago a girl that I work with said that one of the customers told her something like, "I dated a black girl before..." and something else that I don't remember. The guy was obviously a terrible flirt! That's another thing... If you're one race and you work with all people of another race, then they'll describe you as "the white guy," or "the black guy," or whatever race you are. They can't find another way to describe you. Racism is everywhere, but we need to look past all that. We need to unite in Christ and just forget all the stupid stereotypes and such. We need to stop fighting. And guess what? I believe that it's up to us Christians to make the difference. Two of the biggest difference makers (regarding equal rights,) to date that I can think of were both Christians: Martin Luther King, and Abraham Lincoln.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to make a difference and to spread your love, and not to hate or discriminate against anyone. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
