Seek Another’s Wealth

Tuesday's Devotion (6-17-08)

"Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth." 1 Corinthians 10:24 (KJV)

This can be a difficult task... Especially when it seems that everyone else is only looking out for themselves. Who will seek your wealth while you're seeking someone else's? I'll tell you who, God will! God will send the right people in your life, and He'll provide for us in ways we never thought possible. We just have to seek Him and seek to help other people instead of ourselves. We have to stop being greedy and start being generous.

We live in a time where when we run into kind people, I mean truly kind people... It touches our heart greatly, because they are very few in number it seems. It's so hard to meet kind people it seems. When we were in San Francisco awhile back I remembered on the sidewalk there was a homeless man with a cup trying to get some money. Everyone walked past him, and it was sad because there's A LOT of people on those sidewalks. I felt bad, so I went back and gave what I could. It wasn't much, but he seemed genuinely appreciative. Like it touched his heart. It feels good when someone helps you, when someone cares even if they only help a little. It feels great to be the person helping out too, but so many of us are too busy looking out for ourselves. Some of you will say, "These people who need help just need to get a job, etc, etc..." but getting a job would mean that someone has to give them a chance. We live in a time where when you're down, people just trample over you on their way to where they're going. It's not easy to get back up when the crowd is walking on top of you. That's why when you help someone, it's not always about how much you help.... It's about caring enough to try and help. That means a lot, that gives hope to the hopeless. That's what makes us a light to the world, that's when they can see Jesus in us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to trust in you, and to show kindness and compassion to everyone and to always be willing to help our fellow man. Let us look out for each other instead of ourselves. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
