Not What It Seems

Monday's Devotion (6-16-08)

"But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing." 2 Thessalonians 3:13 (KJV)

You know, sometimes it doesn't seem "worth it," to do good. It seems like we're punished instead of rewarded for good deeds at times. BUT we have to keep the faith, and we have to know that if we don't see our reward... Then it's waiting for us in Heaven! No good deed will go unrewarded and no evil deed will go unpunished. We need to stay strong and we need to keep pushing on and doing good things, and doing what's right even if it seems like we're being punished for it.

The truth is that the world DOES punish us for doing good, and reward us for doing evil. But I'm looking for reward from God, a reward that's eternal... Those who seek the world's reward will find punishment that's eternal. We have to do what's right regardless. We have to stop worrying about what will happen, and just start trusting God that when we do what's right that He'll take care of us. Some of us say that we trust God, but when a problem comes up we try and lie our way out of it... If you feel you have to lie about something, that means you aren't trusting God. God doesn't want you to lie, REGARDLESS! Let's use a job interview for an example. For the longest time I had a hard time getting a job. I'd go into interviews and I'd get tips from people on what I should say. A lot of it wasn't true... I had no luck with that. It's once I started to tell the truth that I had better chances. For instance, at my current job at the grocery store deli... I told the interviewer, "To be honest, I never got fast at making sandwiches at Subway," because they want you to be fast at sandwich making in the deli too. It's better to tell the truth and not get hired (If that's what it means,) then to lie and get hired and then get fired because they can tell you lied. Not to mention if you lie then you're not in God's Will, you're not pleasing Him. If you work first on pleasing God then He'll take care of you. You just have to have faith and believe that if you stay in God's Will, if you obey Him then everything will work out. Because really, that's the only way things do work out. Things are not what they seem. You don't have to lie or do other evil to survive, God is on your side!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to trust in you, and to not grow weary of well doing. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
