Do You Love?
Tuesday's Devotion (6-10-08)
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another." 1 John 4:11 (KJV)
You know what's sad? What's sad is that some of us (Myself included at times,) go around feeling and acting bitter... We treat others badly at times, and that's a sign of someone who doesn't feel loved. People often don't understand that when someone else is treating them badly or when someone is bitter... It's because they don't feel loved and they're hurting inside. It doesn't justify anything, but it's just sad because as Christians we ARE loved! We are loved unconditionally by God, and we should be displaying that. We should be showing love to others, and I think we would IF we truly believed God's love for us.
I believe that once we fully receive and accept the love that God has for us that we'll feel the need to love others. We'll feel the need to "give back." We'll feel the need to share that love with others. But first we have to believe that God's love for us is great and unconditional. Once we realize that, then we'll be on the road to loving others as we should love them. Remember, that the only love that some people will ever know is the love that YOU show them. So, make it count and love like there's no tomorrow. Show them how great the love of God is! Some of us like to hide how great God's love is, but that's sad because there are a lot of people who need to know that they're loved.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to love everyone and to be shining lights for you. Also, help us to know without doubt that you love us. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
