We Don’t Have To Take It Anymore!
Thursday's Devotion (5-29-08)
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
Who said that the Bible doesn't say anywhere that we need to read it? Obviously, they NEVER READ IT! Haha! I love that line. Next time someone tells you that the Bible doesn't say you need to read it, tell them that line "Well, that goes to show that you've never read it!" The truth is that we DO need to read and not only read, but study the scriptures. We need to know the Word of God through and through. It's a tough task, takes a lot of time and effort to know the Word of God... BUT it's well worth it!
Knowing the Word of God not only brings us closer to Jesus Christ, but it's a good security measure. When you know the Word of God, you can't be deceived. Now, you may not think there are that many people out there looking to deceive you, but guess again! A lot of people are really trying to deceive you, and others aren't trying they are just misinformed by the people who deceived them! Think about all the deceivers, and the deceived from their churches that go out and make their own churches/ministries. You can imagine how many generations of deceivers come from just one deceiver. That person deceives someone, then that someone deceives someone else, and so on. It's a very dangerous thing, there are people out there who will deceive you: Whether it's intentional or not. When you know the Word of God you won't be deceived, and you can do something to help others from not being deceived. For example if you go somewhere where false doctrines are being taught, you can say "Hey! You're wrong and I have the scriptures to prove it." Armed with the Word of God and filled with the Holy Ghost we don't have to take this deception anymore.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to trust in you, to know your Word, and to apply it to our lives and our hearts. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
