Diligent
Saturday's Devotion (5-24-08)
"The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute." Proverbs 12:24 (KJV)
You'll notice that in most work places where people are constantly complaining about their boss... That the people complaining are lazy and aren't doing their jobs! That's why they're under rule, that's why they're not the bosses, but rather the employees. This isn't always the case, but I've noticed it in all my jobs and from what I hear from other people and their jobs. You can even see it when you walk into places as a customer. There's a pizza place down the street, and I can recall one incident where we were buying pizza... An employee was getting chewed out by the manager because he was on his cell phone talking and not working. The manager was very mean and in front of all the customers, but that doesn't change the fact that someone wasn't doing their job! Thus, the reason she was the manager and he was under her rule.
It's this way in society too... You have to work hard to get somewhere, and if you don't then you'll just find yourself at the bottom of society constantly working under the harder workers. I guess the moral is that if you want to be great then you have to diligently work at it! If you're lazy then you won't achieve greater success whether it be in life, at your work, your marriage, raising your kids, or anything else.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to be diligent and not slothful in all things. Help us to trust in you and please guide us in all things. In Jesus name. A-men!
