Consider The Great Things...
Thursday's Devotion (5-22-08)
"Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you." 1 Samuel 12:24 (KJV)
It's easy to forget what great things the Lord has done for us, and it's easy to complain. Doesn't matter how great the work the Lord does in our lives, we can find ourselves forgetting. It's really amazing how dumb we can be! The Lord can completely heal us of a great disease today when we pray, but tomorrow we can find ourselves doubting that He even exists... or questioning His love for us. We can be like the Israelites, praise Him when all is good and when things start going a little bad then we forget all the good and start complaining about the bad and not trusting God to deliver us!
The reason I'm writing this is because the Lord is correcting me, the message I preach is a message that I should be listening to! I've been complaining, I've been down in the dumps and frustrated, and I haven't been trusting the Lord as I should be! I've been looking for quick fixes, especially with my music. I'm just so desperate, even as I'm writing this. I cannot help it, I'm so frustrated that I cannot express it with words. I found something that I can do, but I need money that I don't have to do it! I need about a total of $842 minimum. I have to trust the Lord for it, but I've been looking for quick fixes. In the position I'm in, there's nothing besides trusting in the Lord that I can do. I guess that's a good position to be in!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to trust in you and to obey you and to serve you with all that we have and all that we are. In Jesus name. A-men!
Off topic: On a very sad note I'm sure Steven Curtis Chapman and his family would appreciate your prayers as they are going to need them. Steven's 5 year old daughter was accidentally struck by his teenage son in his SUV... She was killed. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through. Not to mention the guilt the son must feel and the mixed emotions of the rest of the family. It's going to be a long hard road for this family. It's terrible, so please pray.
God bless!
