Love (As He Has Loved You!)

Wednesday's Devotion (5-21-08)

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." John 15:12 (KJV)

The commandment here isn't just to love one another, but to do it as He has loved us... He gave His life for us! Most of us don't even help a homeless man on the street. If we see someone in need of help we just keep moving along, it's easy to do! How much harder for us would it be to give our life for our fellow man? It's not about actually giving our life for each other... it's about being ready, willing, and able to do so if we have to. The problem is that most of us (Myself included,) just aren't ready, willing, or able. I would give my life for family, for my wife... I'm sure I'd give my life if it was to save a small child that I don't even know from oncoming traffic. BUT for just anyone? I can't honestly answer that I would. How many of us can honestly say they would?

What I just said is a problem too... I mean if we believers did such things if we gave all for our fellow man, then we would truly be lights to the rest of the world. Give your life for another in the name of Christ and I'm almost 100% sure that they wouldn't ever curse at God again. Those terrorists that give their life to kill more people, no matter what they think... They aren't heroes. They aren't nothing but Satan's little friends, but Satan left out a big detail to his "friends," they're not going to Heaven. They're going to pay for their sins for eternity. To give your life to save a life, now that's a real hero... That's what Christ represents and if we represent Christ better then people would stop calling our Bible "hate literature." It's far from hate literature because Christ has taught us to love one another without judgment and REGARDLESS. People might not be living right, we should warn them and we should do anything to help them change... BUT we should never hate them and treat them badly. Because they are the people who need our love most, they are the people who need to know that God loves them and wants to have a relationship with them! I'm honestly tired of these so-called "Christians" who hate and give the rest of us a bad name. They give the Word of God a bad name, because they are not representing it right! How can we change the evil in the world when it's changing us? How can we make something good when it's making us bad? You can't make people who are living ungodly lifestyles come to Christ by treating them in a way that's ungodly! People are people no matter what they do, and God loves His creation. That's the message we must live, breathe, sleep, and speak.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to love one another even as you have loved us. Don't let us misrepresent you and your Word. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
