Fight The Devil

Friday's Devotion (5-16-08)

"It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" 2 Timothy 2:11-12 (KJV)

We all need to answer these questions: Have we been crucified with Christ, or do we still live in our flesh? Do we suffer for His sake? Do we live in shame of Him, or do we boldly live for Christ? Each question is importantly, because they will determine our destiny. They will answer the age old question of, "Are you going to Heaven or Hell?" If you deny Christ in ANY way then He will deny you before the Father, and guess what? That means you will not enter into the Kingdom of God. If you're denying Him now then you still have a chance to change your ways while you are still alive and ask for His forgiveness.

Have you been crucified with Christ? Meaning have you put away your former self, have you stopped fulfilling the desires of your flesh and started to fulfill the desires of your spirit? Some of us are still feeding our flesh, still giving it what it craves and as long as we do... It'll never die and we'll never be crucified with Christ. And if we aren't crucified with Him then we will not live with Him for eternity. Stop feeding your flesh, let it starve to death and start feeding your spirit with the Word of God and the things of God so that it may live forever.

Do we suffer for Christ? If you deny Him then you won't have the problem of suffering for His sake... But you'll have the bigger problem of waking up one day in the pits of Hell. That's not what you want to say the least. If we boldly confess Christ and walk in His ways then there will be some suffering along the way. How much suffering depends on your part of the world. In some parts people are tortured for Christ's sake, in other parts people are murdered and then you have America where they just try and silence us... And they call us names (Big deal, eh?) There's also spiritual suffering, and even physical in some cases where the devil attacks us. Whatever suffering you are ENDURING you will be rewarded for, but the keyword is "enduring." You must endure the suffering if you want to partake in His glory and reign with Him. You can't give up, you can't give in to the devil or to the people who want to silence you. Your goal should be to save souls, to bring people to Christ and if you suffer then it's worth it! It's worth it because it's only temporary and you might save someone else from eternal suffering. And if you don't care about doing that then you seriously need to re-evaluate your walk with Christ. It's not just about saving yourself, it's about being a tool to save others and it's about enduring all the suffering, the trials, and the pain until the end in order to share eternity with Christ. If anyone told you your walk with Christ will be or should be easy then simply put: They lied to you! It's not easy, I've been put through the ringer and it's not over yet... It's never over until we go home with Jesus! You have to be determined and strong enough to stick it out and survive. Pray for His strength and guidance to get you through. When someone acts or tells me that their walk with Jesus is easy then one of the first things I think is, "They aren't doing something right." Because if the devil isn't fighting against you, then that means you aren't fighting against him either. Live for Jesus, resist the devil!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to resist the devil and to live for you fully with all our hearts, minds, and spirits. Don't let us deny you or live like the world wants us to, but let us live as you would have us to. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
