Glory to GOD!

Monday's Devotion (5-12-08)

"It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory." Proverbs 25:27 (KJV)

It's funny, people misuse the word, "glory." People try to bring themselves glory, but that's not glory. If you're trying to bring yourself glory, then guess what? You're just plain full of yourself and you really have no glory at all. If you're searching for your own glory, you will not find it. If you do a great job at what you do and you're humble then other people will give you honor/glory, but if you're arrogant... It doesn't even matter how good you are at your job, you won't get the honor you're looking for. Most of the REAL great people you hear about were humble people even the first President of the United States. My understanding was that it was going to be King George Washington, but he didn't want to be King... He preferred President. Someone seeking their own glory and not the good of the people would've just been King. Abraham Lincoln set the slaves free, even though he knew it wouldn't be a popular decision... But it was the RIGHT decision. King David didn't go around bragging about how he slew Goliath. He gave the glory to God. Now that's real glory, someone who does great things NOT looking for glory, but looking to do the right thing.

Of course we should never look to bring ourselves glory anyway, we should be looking to bring glory to God! That's the ultimate glory in itself, the ultimate honor is when someone accepts Christ because of YOU. It's such a great feeling and honor to know that God used YOU to save a soul from darkness, to bring peace and joy to someone else's life. Honestly, if this isn't something that you seek for your own life then you need to get closer to Christ. We all need to get closer anyway, we can never be too close... but you know what I mean.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to bring you glory Lord and not to try and bring ourselves glory. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
