Thursday's Devotion (5-8-08)

"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." 1 Timothy 6:7 (KJV)

It's funny how we fight to hold onto temporary things, and how we get greedy and don't give to our fellow man. It's not like we can take these things with us when we die. If I told some people that I'm a donor (Meaning when I die my organs, etc will go to help save someone else...) they'd think I'm crazy for doing that. But you know what I think? I think people who aren't donors are crazy, because when we die there's nothing left in this body. Our spirit will be gone out of our body and if you can save a life in your own death then why not? If that's not a prime example of being Christ-like I don't know what is, after-all in His death (and resurrection,) we found life. So, if you're not an organ donor I encourage you to become one, could save some lives!

Well, I didn't mean for this to become about donating our organs, but it seemed appropriate. But the main point is that we fight so hard even in our death we try to prevent our material goods and other possessions from going to someone else. What does it matter? What REALLY matters are the things above. What treasure we really should be trying to hold onto is our heavenly treasures, and the only way to build those is to give our earthly treasures up to help our fellow man.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us not to be greedy or caught up on the things of this world. Let our sight be set on you. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
