Remain In God’s Grace
Monday's Devotion (5-5-08)
"And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." Jonah 3:10 (KJV)
I want to point out that God never sinned, and never even thought of sinning. The reason I bring this up is because the word, "repent" might confuse some. To repent is to change your heart, God simply had a change of heart here. He decided not to destroy the people because the people also had a change of heart, they turned from their evil ways. God changing His mind like this made Jonah upset, he was a prophet of the Lord and He told these people that the Lord was going to do this thing to them... But the Lord changed His mind.
This tells us that the Lord can and WILL change His mind if we change our hearts/actions. He can change His mind to either bless us or not to bless us, depending on our hearts. This is why it's important to get close to God (Study His Word, stay in prayer, and walk in His ways...) and not get lazy thinking "Once you have salvation you can't lose it." Because quite frankly, if you stop following Christ you will lose your salvation, but if you come back to Christ you'll regain it. It's all about our faith in Christ, and our faith in Christ will result in a change of heart and a change in our actions. God doesn't want to destroy us in the next life, but ultimately we will change His mind either for our good or for our own destruction. If we find ourselves in Hell then there's nobody (not even God,) to blame except ourselves. I just don't want to find myself down there (at all,) looking for someone else to blame.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please draw us closer to you, and don't let us fall away. Let us remain in your grace. In Jesus name. A-men!
Site note: I've noticed that the main site: www.GodsLovingKindness.com has been not receiving many visitors as of late. I took some initiative and did a cheap advertising campaign (It's all I could do at the moment.) Let's hope that drives some visitors, but please tell your friends/family about us if you enjoy the website. We need to increase activity. What had me worried is the decline in prayer requests... I have a hard time believing that nobody has prayer needs, so it lead me to believe that maybe people just aren't visiting as much. I checked the stats and my theory was true. So, please... If your friends or family need prayer or anything that our site can offer just send them our way. God bless!
God bless!
