Blinded Eyes

Saturday's Devotion (5-3-08)

"He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end." Ecclesiastes 3:11 (KJV)

You know we're often curious about things that we'll never know in this lifetime: How did God do this? When will God do this? Etc, etc... There are mysteries of God that we will not know in this lifetime. When we are made pure as Christ is pure when we go to be with Him then these things will be revealed to us. With the world in our heart we cannot know all the things of God. The world blinds us to the things of the spirit. You'll notice that as you get closer to God more and more will be revealed to you (Not all things,) but a lot of things that really enlighten us. If you drift further from God you'll notice that you understand less of the things of God. If the world completely consumes your heart then you'll know nothing of God, and you'll want no part with Him.

Which brings me to this: We often get mad at people who deny our beliefs, deny our faith... We don't like that they belittle our faith in Christ, but we have to realize that they are blinded by the world. They're not just arguing our beliefs because they "hate" God, but they're arguing it because they cannot see it. We see some things of God because we've accepted Christ into our hearts, but the unsaved they aren't going to see. They are blind in spirit, it's just like asking a blind man if he can see a tree. That's not saying that God can't restore their sight, because we all know He can as He had to restore our spiritual sight. We were ALL spiritually blind at one time or another. It's important that we realize this so that we might have more patience with the unsaved. So, that we don't pass judgment on them and that we pray for their sight to be restored. If we're a light for Jesus then maybe through us they'll be able to see Him.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Use us to bring you glory and to bring light to the world so that the people in it might see to find you. Don't let our hearts be consumed by the world and the things of it. Help us to set our sights on the things which are above. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
