The Hands of God
Friday's Devotion (5-2-08)
"But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?" 1 John 3:17 (KJV)
You can always tell when someone is made perfect in the love of Christ by their actions. I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm working on it. We have to pray to get there and work on changing our inner man/woman whatever the case may be. As I was saying you can tell by one's actions if they're made perfect in the love of Jesus. Are your actions compassionate? When you see someone in need of something that you have, do you give it to them or do you walk away? How is the love of God in us if we walk away from our fellow man who is in need?
I think it's a big problem in the church today, most of us would rather just walk away from those in need. Until we start doing something to help others, then we're not going to bring more people to Christ. People wonder why they can't bring a homeless man to Christ, in a lot of cases it's probably because we just talk. We show no compassionate actions towards them we say, "God bless you," then we walk away. That's not enough because God blesses others through us! Look at your hands right now, they can be used as the hands of God. The power is in your hands, what will you do with it? I hope we will all use our hands to display the love of God by giving and helping others.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to help others and give to those in need. Use our hands as your own and guide our every step. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
