Perfect In Christ
Tuesday's Devotion (4-29-08)
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Matthew 5:48 (KJV)
This is a tall order for any man to fill. Thankfully if Jesus is in us then we are made perfect, because we are forgiven. Jesus is the only way we can fill this tall order. None of us are perfect, we all make mistakes and Jesus is the only one who never did make a mistake. Some of us think that are righteousness is based off of works, but the only work it's based off is accepting Jesus Christ into our own heart. Other than accepting Jesus, nothing you do can "earn" you a spot into Heaven.
When I first saw this verse, I thought, "There's no way." I was trying to figure out if this is a requirement then how can anyone make it to Heaven? The answer was and is Jesus. If we have accepted Jesus and His sacrifice for our sins then when God looks at us all He sees is His Son who IS perfect even as God Himself. So, don't be overwhelmed if you're in Christ Jesus.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Use us to bring many more to you Lord, and let us be made perfect in your Son. In Jesus name. A-men!
