God Wants To Bless YOU!

Monday's Devotion (4-7-08)

"My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him." Psalms 62:5 (KJV)

You know awhile back we talked about how we should "expect great things" from the Lord. When we pray we should expect an answer to our prayers. It may not be the answer we want, but we should expect the right answer. Expectation is a part of our faith. If we pray and we don’t really expect an answer then we lack faith. Some might think that expecting from the Lord is trying to take advantage of Him... That’s not true, because the Lord wants to freely give to us out of His grace. He wants to bless us in so many ways, but we have so many things in our lives that prevent us from the full blessings of God. The main thing that prevents us from the blessings of God is lack of faith, and lack of expectations. Expect great blessings from the Lord, because He does WANT to give them.

What I’m saying may be nothing new to you, but it’s been a revelation to me lately. God wants to bless me... I knew it before, but I never really KNEW it. I never fully believed it I guess. It’s hard to believe it when you’ve had a life where very few things ever go right... Where even the smallest of things go wrong. I’m not complaining, because I’m really feeling like a curse has been lifted off of me. Things are starting to go right for once in my life, and that’s because I’m starting to EXPECT it to go right. And it’s not just because I’m positive and expect it to go right, it’s because my expectations are from Him! They are from God. Some people think that just being positive makes everything better... Well, you can be positive and still have everything go badly. You can be positive that your friend will come through for you, but he’ll fail... But if you’re positive in the Lord, if your expectations are from Him there is no limit to the possibilities. God wants His children to prosper, and I really honestly believe that the reason most of us (including myself,) aren’t prospering is because we’re not ready to prosper. Some will never be ready in this lifetime, but that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want it for them. I guess in a way God doesn’t even always get what He wants, because He wants so much for our lives and we just don’t see it. And if we don’t see it, that means we lack the faith to see it, and if we lack the faith then that means we aren’t going to see it. I’m sure that God wanted Moses to live in the promised land, but Moses messed that up for Himself. That doesn’t mean He isn’t in Heaven right now, because He is... But that means that He didn’t prosper as he could have while on earth. Well, anyway I’m just going to end it here before I start rambling.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who’ve sinned against us. Please help us to trust in you, and to expect great things from you in our lives. We thank you in advance for all the wonderful things you’ve done and will continue to do in our lives. Make us ready to prosper. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
