Get Over It!
Monday's Devotion (3-31-08)
"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:26-27 (KJV)
Some might think it’s wrong to be angry, but even Jesus got angry when He was on the earth. It depends on what you do with that anger. Do you control it, or do you act out on it in a matter that is sinful? If I were to make you angry, do you hit me or do you talk it out with me? If you hit me then you’ve chosen the wrong way to handle the situation. We have emotions and they’re going to effect us, but we have to control them! I’ve been called "emotional." The truth is however, that we all have emotions... But some of us handle it better than others. By my comment you can probably tell that I’m not always the "some of us that can handle it better." Be aware of your emotions and don’t let them control you. Stay in prayer, stay in the Word of God and stay in control! Well, actually let God stay in control.
Another thing not to do, something that will hinder your spiritual walk is... Holding that anger against someone or just in general. You have to get over it, you have to handle it. Since I’ve gotten married there have been very few instances where either of us has gone to bed angry at the other, and our relationship is better for that. We talk out our problems, and this shouldn’t just be for married couples... It’s for brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, moms, dads, and enemies too! It’s for everyone you can think of. Don’t go to sleep with unsolved problems, better yet as the verse says "...let not the sun go down upon your wrath..." If you get angry that’s alright, but get over it! Don’t hold onto that anger.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who’ve sinned against us. Please help us not to hold grudges or hold onto any anger. Don’t let us give place to the devil in our lives. Show the devil the door and kick him out of it and lock it behind him. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
