One Question...

Wednesday's Devotion (3-26-08)

"I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalms 34:4 (KJV)

A few days ago we talked about fear being the lack of faith. However, let’s face it... We all have some kind of fear. I for one have many "phobias." I’m afraid of bugs/spiders and mice, possums (Very afraid of them,) I’m afraid of things that are nothing to be afraid of! When we have fears it certainly doesn’t mean we’re not saved, but it does mean we’re only human. It also, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t work on getting rid of those fears through prayer and by taking action. We have to realize that the Lord will protect us from the smallest of things to the largest, to whatever. The first step to overcoming our fears is prayer, the second step is realizing that there’s really nothing to be afraid of! Whether or not I’ll take my own advice next time I see a bee or something fly in my face remains to be seen. Of course those aren’t my only fears, I probably have more fears than I even know about.

It’s natural to have fears, but when fears start controlling your life that’s when it really becomes a problem. Some people are so afraid that they don’t leave their homes ever. That has to be such a dark feeling to be that afraid, it has to be the most horrible thing you could live with. While I feel sympathy for these people, the truth is that sympathy isn’t going to help them! They have to face their fears, and they have to call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s the bottom line. You cannot let fear ruin your lives! But at the end of the day it’s your decision: Are you going to let fear ruin your life?

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who’ve sinned against us. Please help us to not live in fear, but to boldly trust in you in all situations. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
