Wicked or Righteous?

Tuesday's Devotion (3-18-08)

"The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight." Proverbs 15:8 (KJV)

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, I think that’s because it’s insincere. The wicked sacrifice praise or ask for forgiveness, knowing full well that they’re going to commit the same sins over and over again. The righteous on the other hand, when they ask for forgiveness and mercy... They intend to try and do better. They aren’t always able to do better, but their intentions are good. They are sincere, the wicked are insincere.

What makes the righteous, righteous and the wicked, wicked? It’s about intentions and about truly seeking God’s forgiveness. I might commit the same sins that the wicked do, but I have intentions to change and I sincerely seek God’s mercy and I’ve accepted Christ into my heart. The wicked on the other hand, they are the people that don’t intend to change their ways. To them, I recommend that they don’t try and trick God with their prayers. God can’t be fooled, and He’ll only forgive if you intend to change and do right. By lying to the Almighty you will only bring yourself more trouble.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who’ve sinned against us. Help us to be sincere and to be righteous in your eyes, and not our own. Let us be lights unto the dark world. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
