3 Things We Should Always Do
Thursday's Devotion (3-13-08)
"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (KJV)
Here are three things that we should ALWAYS be doing: Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks in all things. We should be doing all three of these things, not two out of 3 or 1 out of 3... ALL 3! There are a lot of excuses to give as to why you can’t do all three. Maybe you’re not feeling thankful, there’s no reason to rejoice and there’s nothing to pray about. Wait. None of that is a good reason, because there’s always a reason to do all three of these things! If you’re alive you should be thankful, pray when good is happening too, not just when you need something. Not to mention, there are ALWAYS people out there who need your prayers. Rejoice even in your sufferings because God is on your side always.
If we’re not doing these things, then we’re not the light to the world that we need to be. God’s will is for us to be happy, that alone should make us feel joy. There’s one thing to thank God for right there, thank God that He isn’t cruel. Thank God that He doesn’t take joy in our suffering, or we’d be in trouble. Satan is cruel, he takes joy in our suffering... But our God is more powerful than Satan will ever be and our God is on our side!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who’ve sinned against us. Help us to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, and to give thanks in all things. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
