Unique

Saturday's Devotion (3-8-08)

"For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was." James 1:23-24 (KJV)

The Word of God is a part of us, or at least it should be. In it, we find who we really are meant to be. Some people think that studying and following God's Word makes us "less unique." I'd go out and say that it's exactly the opposite, it makes us more unique. We may be following the same guidelines, the same rules, but it brings out something different in us. It brings out our true personalities, and it makes us happier in order for us to be ourselves. You can always tell when someone isn't being themselves, because they're just miserable. I think that since accepting Christ and following His Word I've become more unique than I was before. Before I was an empty shell... Now I have blossomed so to speak. The great thing about it is that with the Word of God, I'm never done "blossoming."

The Bible isn't about making us all the same. It's about finding our individual calling. It's about finding peace and joy through the Holy Spirit. Without peace and joy, and without the confidence that we are loved for who we are... We cannot be who we really are. We were meant to be happy, we were meant to be children of God. We were made for Him and by Him... So without Him we cannot be who we truly are. I don't know if I'm explaining this good enough, but I'm just going to leave it at that.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to wholly follow your Word and to be truly unique and happy. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
