Support The Weak
Thursday's Devotion (3-6-08)
"Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished." Proverbs 17:5 (KJV)
You know there are a lot of people that are happy when their enemies suffer. Someone's mother could die and they'll say, "Haha, he deserved it!" They'll laugh when they think someone went to Hell. The list goes on and I can't begin to count the reasons why this is just so wrong. We should NEVER mock those who are suffering, or be glad about when something bad happens in someone's life. If you do then something will come back on you... The world would call it "Karma." But it's not karma... It's the wrath of God. Doesn't matter how bad or wicked you think someone was or is, there is never a reason to find joy in someone's suffering. And if you do, maybe you'll say it's because they were wicked... but guess what? When you find joy in their suffering that makes you just as wicked as anyone.
We should help people who are in need, no matter what the need or who they are. The strong should support the weak. If someone is without legs to stand then we should hold them up. If someone is without hands, we should lend them ours. We should never mock someone who is without, if we do there's a price we must pay for it. That price we cannot afford to pay, but we'll have to pay it and then we'll end up worse than the person we mocked. You can't teach compassion though, you either have it or you don't. If you don't I suggest you start praying for it.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to have compassion even for our worst of enemies. Don't let us mock another or find gladness in someone's suffering. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
