What Is Love?

Wednesday's Devotion (2-27-08)

"Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little." Luke 7:47 (KJV)

This is a very important verse that I don't think gets brought up nearly enough. You can measure how much you'll be forgiven by how much you've loved. How much have you loved? What is love anyway? Is it kind words or is it an action of kindness? To me love is a lot more than saying, "God bless you!" To me love is providing God's blessings to another... If you see someone without a coat and they're cold then you give them a coat. That's love. Whenever you see a need you do your best to provide for it, that's love. Love can be words too, sometimes people need a kind word. Love can be correction, sometimes people need correction to save them from trouble. I think we all need to love more, but I'm interested in hearing your definition of love. What does love mean to you?

Also, I want to ask you... Based on your love for your fellow human being, how much do you feel you're forgiven on a 1-10 point scale? 10 being completely forgiven. To be honest, I don't think I'm anywhere near the 10 mark. I'm working on it, and I'll be praying for it. I hope that everyone reading this will learn to love with me and learn to love even those people who seem impossible to love.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to love one another even as you have loved us in that your Son gave His life for us. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
