Are You In Agreement With The Devil?
Tuesday's Devotion (2-19-08)
"For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 8:12 (KJV)
To me this is one of the most amazing things in all of scripture. What's so amazing about it? The ALL KNOWING GOD is going to forget our sins like they never happened. He's going to willingly erase His own memory of our wrong doings in order to justify us. I don't know about you, but I find that pretty amazing. Because we ask for forgiveness He's going to forgive and literally forget.
In order for the Lord to forget our sins we have to ask for forgiveness, try to change our ways, and... We have to forgive ourselves. That's right, if you're constantly feeling guilty over something that's already done then you're reminding God of your sin. Here God is, He's forgotten about your sin and you come up to Him and say, "Remember when I sinned against you Lord? That was horrible!" It's not easy, but you have to forgive yourself and do a little forgetting of your own and move on with your life. The Bible says that in order for God to forgive us we must first forgive others... And I believe that that goes for forgiving ourselves as well. I have a very hard time doing this, it's not easy in the least bit for some of us. The devil feeds off of our guilt as well, he'll bury us with it if we let him "I can't believe you did that! The Lord must be very disappointed in you, you're a failure." Of course the devil's words are usually way more harsh and condemning than that, but you get the point. We'll buy into those words and start agreeing... We'll agree with the devil, that can't be good can it? We may not realize that we're agreeing with the devil, but we are when we give into those condemning thoughts and feelings. I for one am tired of agreeing with the devil, it has gotten me nowhere except to the land of depression! Are you agreeing with the devil? Take a deep look at yourself and find the answer, if you're not positive then you are in one way or another. I'm not always positive, but I'm working on it. We have to stop agreeing with the devil and start standing on the truth of God's Word or we'll never have any joy in our lives. God wants us to have peace of mind and joy in our lives no matter the circumstances.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to also forgive ourselves and to move forward with peace of mind that we are forgiven. Don't let us agree with the devil in any way... Don't let him rob us of our joy. In Jesus name.
God bless!
