Don’t Be Foolish, Be Ready!
Monday's Devotion (2-18-08)
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV)
I challenge all comers to find ONE just ONE trait mentioned in these verses that we don't see in today's society. If you can honestly name one of these traits and say that they're NOT in today's society... Then I'm going to guess that you've been hiding under a rock for a very long period of time. I've seen all these traits in today's society, I would even say that I seen some of them in myself before I accepted Christ. This is a prophecy that HAS BEEN FULFILLED. It's not "to be fulfilled," it's already fulfilled. It is done...
What does that mean for us? It means that we're living in the end times. I'm not going to be a radical and tell you that Christ is going to return tomorrow, but I'll tell you this... I want to be ready incase He does! Many have this false sense of security. They think that because these things have been going on for so long in society that that means we're not in the end times. What we have to realize is that even though we're in the end times (Because we are in them,) that doesn't mean that it'll all come to pass in the next year, two, or even before we die in 50 years. A day to God is a thousand to us. So, even though WE ARE in the end times that doesn't mean Christ will be here within the year. It could be a hundred years or longer, BUT that doesn't mean we shouldn't be ready for Him NOW! We should be ready at all times because even if Christ doesn't return tomorrow that doesn't mean we won't die tomorrow or even tonight. We have to be ready to meet our maker at all times, that's the bottom line here. Stop debating about when He's coming or when He isn't... Because the debate isn't just when He's coming, it's when you're going to see Him and whether or not you'll be ready for it. I want to be ready NOW, because I've come to terms with the fact that I'm not immortal. I'm just a man and my number is up whenever the Lord calls it. Doesn't matter how young, how how old, or how healthy you are... Your number will be called or Christ will return (Either way you won't know when it's going to happen...) so be ready now. Stop putting your walk with Christ off, because a day will come when you have to answer to Him directly and you'd better be ready. We're in a day and age where we have to be ready for one of two things: Death or the return of Christ. Before all these end time prophecies started coming to pass all the people had to prepare for was death (Which could still come at any time.) How do you prepare for something when you don't know when it's coming? You be ready for it at all times, that's how. Very few people that I've known knew when they were going to die. My brother being one of them, not many people have that advantage. Don't be foolish, be ready!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to be ready for your Son's return, or death whichever comes first for us. May we be walking in your ways always and not to be caught off guard. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless!
