Walk With The Light Turned ON!

Wednesday's Devotion (2-13-08)

"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." John 12:46 (KJV)

Jesus is the light, without Him we all abide in darkness and many abide in darkness (Because they're without Him.) Darkness is a cold, lonely, sad place to be. It's no fun to live in that place, but many are clinging onto their homes in the darkness. Many even fight to keep their homes there. It's sad because unless they get a glimpse of the light they'll NEVER move away from the darkness. We through Jesus should be able to give them that preview of the light, we should be able to give them the tour of the light house. Once they see it for what it is, they will buy it and they will move in it and away from darkness. If you believe on Jesus you will abide in the light and it's a wonderful place to live.

The keywords are, "believe on." Some would word it as "believe in." Many believe that Jesus exists, but they don't believe ON Jesus so they're STILL living in darkness. Believing ON Jesus means trusting IN Jesus. Even the devil believes in Jesus because he knows that Jesus exists. But the devil is certainly NOT in the light. Many know that Jesus exists, but because they don't trust in Him and live for Him they still abide in darkness. Trusting in Jesus simply isn't just "I know everything will be alright because of Jesus." No, trusting in Jesus is an action it requires us to live how He commands us to live (Knowing that He has our best interest at heart.) Jesus said love my neighbor, so I will because I know that Jesus wants me to do that for a reason... For my best interest!

I want to talk about something else now too. I've noticed that we often need a light to read or to see clearly. Like without a light I might not see where my dogs made a mess and I would step all in it (I've done that too.) It's the same with the things of the world, without Jesus we're going to step in it and we're going to be so deep in it that we can't get out. Without Jesus we don't see the spiritual side of things, or the full effect of things. I remember that I used to listen to worldly or secular music for example, since accepting and following Jesus... I can go back and look at the words to a song and see it differently. I see a message in the music, they're not just empty words to me anymore. If you knew what they were hiding in some of this stuff you would NOT want to step in it. That's one reason why I stick to the Christian music now because I just don't trust much of the other. It's not just with music though, it's with EVERYTHING! You ever see that movie "They Live?" The one with Rowdy Roddy Piper. He puts on the sunglasses and he sees things that he's not supposed to know or see. Well, since I've accepted Jesus I've been seeing stuff like that as well. Call me an extremists, but when you walk with the light on you'll see it too.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us to abide in your marvelous light. Also help us to bring that light to others. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless!
