False Witnesses
Tuesday's Devotion (1-8-08)
"Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness." Exodus 23:1 (KJV)
As followers of Christ we should NEVER make false reports about other people. That means that we shouldn't lie and we shouldn't gossip about people. So many believers do gossip about others, they say things that they really don't know is true or not. It's not even good to gossip about someone even if you know without a doubt that what you're saying is true... but how much worse is it to make up things about someone? How much worse is it to be a false witness against someone? And if someone asks you to be a witness in court or whatever about something that you didn't even witness... Even if you trust this person's word, if you didn't see it then don't be a "witness."
The bottom line is, don't say something unless you know without a doubt that it's true. And even if it is true there is NEVER a need for gossip.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Please help us not to be false witnesses or gossipers. In Jesus name. A-men!
