A Message From Karen: The One True God, JEHOVAH
Wednesday's Devotion (6-20-07)
Deu 6:4 Hear, O
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deu 6:24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as [it is] at this day.
Deu 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
The Strong's Concordance refers to "our God [is] one" as being translated from the Hebrew language: God = "Jehovah = "the existing One" is the proper name of the one true God".
One: is used to signify:
(1) (a) "one" in contrast to many, e.g., Mat 25:15; Rom 5:18, RV, "(through) one (trespass)," i.e., Adam's transgression, in contrast to the "one act of righteousness," i.e., the death of Christ (not as AV, "the offense of one," and "the righteousness of one"); (b) metaphorically, "union" and "concord," e.g., John 10:30; 11:52; 17:11,21,22; Rom 12:4,5; Phl 1:27; John 10:30 I and [my] Father are one.
(2) emphatically; (a) a single ("one"), to the exclusion of others, e.g., Mat 21:24; Rom 3:10; 1Cr 9:24; 1Ti 2:5 (twice); 1Cr 9: 24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. (b) "one, alone," e.g., Mar 2:7, RV (AV, "only"); Mar 10:18; Luk 18:19; Mar 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? [there is] none good but one, [that is], God. (c) "one and the same," e.g., Rom 3:30 Seeing [it is] one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. RV, "God is one," i.e., there is not "one" God for the Jew and one for the Gentile; cp. Gal 3:20 Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but God is one. Which means that in a promise there is no other party; 1Cr 3:8; 11:5; 12:11; 1Jo 5:8 (lit., "and the three are into one," i.e., united in "one" and the same witness); 1 Cr 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 1 Cr 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ. 1 Cr 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
(3) a certain "one," in the same sense as the indefinite pronoun tis (see B, No. 1), e.g., John 11:50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
Application: These above references shows us how significant our God is, He is the one and only true God. My Prayer for you today is that while meditating on our one and only true God that you would magnify Him. For we are so blessed to have such a mighty, merciful and loving God who cares so much for each and everyone of us that He allowed Christ Jesus to sacrifice Himself on our behalf so that we could be saved from what we deserved = eternal death separated from God. Pray today asking the Lord to teach/show you how to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Let the Lord make this scripture a reality in your life today, by receiving it by faith believing that God will bless you by answering your prayer because it is according to His will, and His word tell us so. You will begin to enter into a stronger relationship with the Lord as you stand on God's promises from His word. He is faithful and you will experience victory in your daily life as you never knew before. Enter in! Continue to follow Christ and God will lead you by His Holy Spirit to greener pastures. Praise God for He is good. The Lord wants to share His Love endlessly with you and He wants your full commitment of love in return as well.
God bless
