Just Trust God!
Wednesday's Devotion (5-30-07)
"So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." Hebrews 13:6 (KJV)
We fear many people in our lives: Our boss, our enemies, terrorists, etc. The words that come from our mouths prove our fear of man: "I might get fired," "What if there's a terrorist attack?" or, "I dread going to work/school today because my enemies give me such a hard time." When you dread something, that's just a fancy way of saying you fear something. What we must realize is that we don't have to fear any man/woman. The only person we have to fear is God, and that's a reverential fear. If we trust and love God, then we have nothing to fear at all. If our boss fires us at work, then God has something better waiting for us anyway! If people (including terrorists,) attack us then God will defend us. We're God's children... Have you ever known a good dad that didn't protect his children?
Some people just live in total fear, which is darkness. The devil has them so afraid to even step outside that they just stay inside their house. The best way to overcome your fear is to face your fear. If you're afraid to go outside at night, or even day... Do it anyway! Just go with God, know that He is with you. We all have fear in our hearts, but it is what we do with that fear. Do we let it consume us or do we consume it? We can't let it control our lives. I got on a plane and moved to California from Indiana sometime after the Sept. 11th attacks. Some people couldn't believe that I would get on a plane after that... But I don't live a life of fear. What is the point? I would rather die living than to live dead. If you let fear control you, then you're as good as dead already. Just trust God, He'll take care of you.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us not to fear anyone except you. Let us trust you with all of our heart. In Jesus name. A-men!
