A Message From Karen: God's Purifying Love
Monday's Devotion (5-28-07)
Leviticus Chapter 15.
In Leviticus Chapter 15
we see God giving his elect (Israel) people instructions on the law concerning
the ceremonial uncleanness that was contracted either by bodily diseases like
that of the leper, or some natural incidents, connected with both genders; in
men (v. 1–18) or in women (v. 19–33). First of all we must consider the
spiritual applications here in God's message, as well as applying it literally
to the physical aspect of their lives. God always looks upon our hearts because
that is the window to our soul of our spiritual being. Our body is just a
temporary covering for our eternal spiritual being, while the outer body will
decay and wither or spiritual being with never fade away for it is eternal.
Everyone regardless if they have turned their life over to God by His Son Jesus
Christ or not has a soul, but the difference with a person who has received
God's plan of salvation is that his soul has been filled with the spirit of God.
Whereas the person who denies God's plan of salvation has an empty soul that is
always in search of filling the void and emptiness that is always present and
never can be satisfied.
The scriptures here in
Leviticus are referring to a spiritual cleansing that only can be cleansed by
God. Lev. v. 2. He must not dare to come near the sanctuary; it was at his peril
if he did, nor might he eat of the holy things. This signified the filthiness of
sin, and of all the productions of our corrupt nature, which render us odious to
God's holiness, and utterly unfit for communion with him. Out of a pure heart
well kept are the issues of life (Prov. 4:23), but out of an unclean heart comes
that which is defiling, Mt. 12:34, 35. Lev. v. 4–12. This signified the
contagion of sin, the danger we are in of being polluted by conversing with
those that are polluted, and the need we have with the utmost circumspection to
save ourselves from this untoward generation.
Lev.
v. 13–15. This
signified the great gospel duties of faith and repentance, and the great gospel
privileges of the application of Christ's blood to our souls for our
justification and his grace for our sanctification. God has promised to sprinkle
clean water upon us, and to cleanse us from all our filthiness, and has
appointed us by repentance to wash and make ourselves clean: he has also
provided a sacrifice of atonement, and requires us by faith to interest
ourselves in that sacrifice; for it is the blood of Christ his Son that
cleanses us from all sin, and by which atonement is made for us, that we may
have admission into God's presence and may partake of his favor.
Here in the book of
Leviticus we see God as the great physician--the healer, the cleanser of our
sins; who is instructing His people in very importance issues in maintaining a
healthy relationship and body acceptable to God. God in His grace has provided a
way for us to fellowship with Him eternally and to insure that we are not cut
off from his grace. Today that bridge to fellowship and receive God's entire
plan for your life which was provided by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who is
our mediator to God the father. So commit yourself to the Lord Jesus and His
Spirit of the living God will fill your empty void as you come before the
presence of the Lord and enjoy all the love and peace that God has in store for
you.
Prayer: God opened salvation for all people (Gentiles & Israelites/Jews) by the blood of Christ Jesus. Get to know the Lord God whom you serve, and read the word of God (bible), to see His attributes that you can learn to draw closer to Him. Here is my prayer that you seek the Lord God, so you can know Him. Learn of God's purifying love, commit your life to the Lord it will set you free. To know God is to love God, and I pray that you experience His tender mercy and love and see He is all sufficient.
God bless
