A Word From Karen
Wednesday's Devotion (5-16-07)
My Mother-in-law has written us another devotional. She's been getting some ideas lately, and I'm happy to let her use the devotion spot on days she is inspired to write. Please feel free to share, I'm sure she'd like to hear any feedback you may have.
"For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" Hebrews 9:13-14 (KJV)
I'm reading in Leviticus chap 8 & 9 now, where the Lord has been ministering to me His love and the dedication He has to His children then and today, (those who chose to believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior) who follow and obey his word. God never changes he is the same yesterday/past, today/now, and tomorrow/future. In the Old Testament the children of God had to follow these strict procedures for atonement for their sin offerings and for thanksgiving/appreciation to God for receiving their offerings they made a special sweet smelling incense mixture in a burnt offering which is known as the old covenant. This was done by sacrificing their best stock of acceptable animals where the blood was used in the ceremony. When God received their offerings this atonement of the animal's blood covered the congregation of people's sin. After the birth of Christ Jesus, God made a new covenant that replaced the atonement with burnt offerings to the atonement of God's son, Christ Jesus. When Christ died on the cross and shed His blood it was for us. The Son of God died for our sins that they could be washed away completely. Whereas the old covenant just covered them for a period of time until the next ceremony, but with Christ it was a one time deal that lasts for eternity. God always provides a way for us, He shows us His love in everything He does, and He is long suffering, forgiving, caring, faithful, and able. I feel so grateful and blessed to know the Lord Almighty God, and he is always with me.
God bless
