Let Not The Light In You Be Darkness!
Friday's Devotion (5-11-07)
"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!" Matthew 6:22-23 (KJV)
Some Christians aren't careful what they watch, what they put into their eyes and this shows because they aren't the best Christians that they could possibly be. That's not to say that I am, but the point is that when you're looking at the wrong things it effects your entire spiritual life. If I sat here and watched pornography, you'd probably be reading some very perverted devotionals. The eye is the light of the body, what goes in that light reflects on the outside like a mirror. It's very important what you put in your eyes! Be a good keeper of your body, and beware of the things you put in it through your eyes...
I'm going to go one step further, and say that you need to beware of what you put in your ears as well. If you're listening to evil music and you think that it'll have no effect on your spiritual life, then guess again! Music is one of the most spiritual things on earth, if not THE most spiritual thing on earth. It was made to worship God, and if it isn't worshipping God, then it's being used to draw people away from God. The devil stole music and started using it for evil, so if you're not listening to godly music... You're listening to the devil's music. Call me whatever you want, but if you beware of what you put into your eyes and ears even for just two weeks... During that two weeks you will feel your best spiritually and mentally. Don't knock me until you've tried it. Those of you who ARE careful of what you put into your eyes and ears, please post here and tell those who AREN'T the difference it has made in your life.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to beware of what we put into our eyes and ears. Don't let us be deceived and don't let the light in us be darkness. In Jesus name. A-men!
