Trust & Obey (One In The Same)

Monday's Devotion (4-30-07)

"For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name." Psalm 33:21 (KJV)

You know when we trust in the Lord with all of our heart, He never lets us down. He may not always give us what we ask for, but He doesn't give those things because those things will only let us down. In every area of our lives the Lord only wants what is best for us. That is how I know that my God is real, because my God never fails me. Some trust in money, some trust in their houses, etc... But those things fail us constantly. Money can't buy some things that you really need like love, and a house without love in it isn't worth living in. So many people put their hopes in false gods, false gods that fail them constantly, but we put our hope in the one TRUE GOD. The God that never fails us, because He loves us too much!

Now trusting in the Lord isn't always just believing what He says, it is also being obedient to what He says! Now if the Lord tells you to give all your money to a homeless woman with child, if you truly trust in Him you won't say, "But what will I do for rent? What will I do for food?" You won't say that because you know that God will provide for your every need. If you do find yourself asking those very questions, then your trust is not in the Lord completely as it should be. If you've failed in this area, don't be ashamed because we have all failed here... And the fact that the Lord shows us the error of our ways is something to be very thankful for! We can change, we can become more obedient to the Lord. However, we can't do it on our own we need His help to even do that much! So pray, and know that the Lord will not fail you or me, even though we have failed him over and over again.

Also, I must say that I was very pleased with yesterday's "Meditation," devotion. We'll do that instead of Share Day every Sunday, since Share Day doesn't really seem to work. The Meditation devotion is really all about obedience itself. The Lord puts things on your heart to speak to others, and when you trust in Him, when you're obedient to Him you speak those things to those who need to hear it.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to trust and obey you with all of our being. Put us in complete submission to you. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
