More Blessed to Give Than to Receive!
Thursday's Devotion (4-19-07)
"I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35 (KJV)
Some of us just work and work, and save more and more money for ourselves, but we don't share it with those who need it most. Even some Christians believe that if you're poor, it's not their problem you just need to go get a job. Well, the Lord knows the struggles I've had just finding a job that would hire me. It's not easy to just, "Get a job!" Especially imagine a poor homeless person trying to get a job, with their dirty clothes and long beards. Nobody is going to pity them enough to give them a job, nobody is going to care enough to hire them.
Basically, what I'm getting to is the simple fact that it's a cruel world. We have to be kind, we have to give to those who are in need, simply because nobody else will! Also, because we are commanded to love. I receive a blessing when I give to those people who live on the streets... You'll notice that when you give to them, they are so very thankful. They'll bless you, thank you, and even hug you at times. It's really just a blessing to be there for another human being. Some of us only give through organizations, etc. Some don't give face to face. If you haven't given to a person on the streets who needs it, then go out today and give it a shot. You haven't experienced a great blessing if you've never given to those in need face to face.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've sinned against us. Help us to bless others and to give to those in need. Give us greater faith so that we'll be able to do your work. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
