Light of Jesus!

Wednesday's Devotion (4-18-07)

"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." Luke 6:31 (KJV)

This scripture actually explains love. We have heard the question, "How do you love someone you do not know?" Well, here is the answer. However, this verse is assuming that you love yourself already. If you don't love yourself, then you can't love another! If you harm yourself with your hate for yourself, then you're going to harm others as well. If you hate yourself, then you need to find a way to change that first of all. I didn't stop hating myself until I found someone to love me and until I found the love of God. At times if I would've been treating others as I would have others treat me, I would've been killing other people. This is not acceptable, so until you love yourself then you can't obey this verse. You must love yourself so that you can treat others with love.

Now, some of us only love ourselves and not others. Some of us take advantage of others and when people do it to them, they have the nerve to get mad about it! You can't walk all over people and expect to never get walked on yourself. We live in a world where if you step on someone's toe, they'll run your head over with a truck. It our responsibility to not be like the rest of the world. We have to treat others with love, even if they do not treat us the same. If we're not doing that, then we're not living in the light of Jesus!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to love ourselves and to love others, but more importantly help us to love you more than anything. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
