Believe ON Jesus!
Monday's Devotion (4-16-07)
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." John 6:47 (KJV)
I think we're looking at one of the most misquoted, misused scriptures ever! The devil would have you believe that you simply have to believe that Jesus exists in order to get into Heaven. But the scripture says "...believe ON me..." not believe IN me! That's a huge difference, because you see even the devils believe in Jesus (They know He exists.) God will be the first to tell you that NO devil will ever inherit the Kingdom of God. Now to believe ON Jesus is to trust in Him, it's to put all of our faith and hope in Him. To believe ON Jesus is to obey His every command. I hope you see the difference one word makes here, and in all scriptures really. So many people have it all wrong, they think that they're saved simply because they believe that Jesus exists.
I have a mission for us all: Spread the message that it takes more than believing He exists. It's a good start, but it's not enough... We have to put our faith in Him! We have to obey Him, and know that every word that ever came out of His mouth and every word that is yet to come out of His mouth is truth and it is pure! Tell your friends, tell your family, your enemies and even strangers. You can tell them that Jesus simply wants to have a relationship with them, or you can put it in your own words, or you can copy today's message. It doesn't matter, so as long as you spread the news! Don't ignore the strong urge to obey, the strong urge to spread the news... I'm feelin' it and I know you do too, obey the Lord!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to obey you and to spread the news you would have us to spread that is your gospel, your truth, and your wisdom. In Jesus name. A-men!
