To Be A Child Again
Thursday's Devotion (3-22-07)
"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." Mark 10:15 (KJV)
Many people think that this verse means that you must accept Christ while you're still a child. If that were true (Which it is not,) then just about everyone would be condemned. What this verse is really trying to say is that we must believe with the faith of a child. You tell a child about Santa Claus, and they believe every word you say until they're older. Some of them even watch "Sesame Street" and think it's a real place. While those things aren't real, the things of the Bible ARE real, but to some certain things might seem silly. You might find it hard to believe that a serpent talked, or that men walked through fire without getting burned... But you must believe with the faith of a child! A child would believe these things without any problem if they were told these things. Which is why it is a good idea to teach them these things at an early age, but if you weren't taught earlier it's ok... What matters is that you're learning now.
It also goes back to denying yourself. Your flesh is going to say, "This stuff is garbage, it can't be true." While your spirit says, "It's all true!" You have to deny your flesh and accept the truth. There is a conflict between your spirit and your flesh, believe me I know. My flesh tells me these things, but it's like I have two minds: One says it is all true, while the other says it is garbage, but I do not buy into the evil mind. I keep focused that the Bible is true, and I do not acknowledge the lies of my flesh. Now, if any of you can judge me and honestly say this has never happened to you... Then go right ahead. I don't care what anyone says, I believe the Word of God and I will continue in it and know that I am one of God's children.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to obey you, and to believe in you and your kingdom with the faith of a child. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
