Don't Keep Your Mouth Shut!

Wednesday's Devotion (3-21-07)

"For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels." Luke 9:26 (KJV)

There are many ways that we show shame... Before my dad died, I wanted to tell Him about Jesus Christ, but I was too scared of his response. I guess that counts as a form of shame, and I'm ashamed that I was ashamed. When I was finally ready to tell him, he could no longer hear me on the phone and shortly after he passed. My shame brought me the worse shame that hopefully I'll ever feel. So, keeping your mouth shut and not speaking the words of truth, the words of Jesus Christ that is shame towards Him. And if we are ashamed of Him and His Words, then He will be ashamed of us when He returns. If He's ashamed of us, we simply do not make it to His Kingdom! If you deny Jesus in any way, then you my friends are ashamed of Him.

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit tells us to speak the Words of truth... and we don't. I remember one time in particular. I was at the doctor's office and I saw a boy on crutches. I was feeling that I should talk to Him about Jesus, but when I said, "Hi," and he didn't respond... I gave up. Is that shame? What if I was his last chance to hear the gospel? I hope to God that I wasn't, because I failed! Don't keep your mouth shut! A lot of believers believe that they shouldn't talk about Jesus unless asked... If you never talk about Him, then how will they know to ask about Him? Sounds justification for their shame, but in the end it isn't you that justifies you... It is the same one that you're ashamed of, so you better change your attitude towards Him and fast!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Don't let us be ashamed of you, your Son, your Holy Spirit, or your Word. May we boldly confess the name of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
