Be Thankful, Be Positive!
Tuesday's Devotion (3-13-07)
"O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever." Psalms 136:1-3 (KJV)
It is very important for us to be thankful towards the Lord. Some of us are so busy complaining to God that we forget to thank Him, "Oh God why can't I get that raise at work?" or, "Oh God why don't I have a car?" I'll tell you the answer to all of your "whys," it's because you are unthankful! For every one thing that you don't have, you'll probably find 5 or more things that you do. I'm not just talking about physical things, I'm talking about spiritual things too. Stop complaining long enough to look for the things in your life that you should be thankful for. This will change your life for the better.
Also, we shouldn't just thank the Lord for what we have... We should thank Him for listening to our prayers, for answering our prayers, and just for being our God and having mercy upon us. If you have accepted Jesus, then you have so much to be thankful for. However, if you are a complainer, if you're a negative person, it'll be hard for you to find those things. If you can't find things to be thankful for, then you are negative and you need to change in that area of your life. I don't care if you're homeless, if you can't find one thing to be thankful for then you are negative and that's why you are where you are! I go through periods where I can be really negative, and then periods where I feel really positive. When I'm negative, it seems like my problems never go away and that's because I have the attitude that they never will go away. Your attitude makes a huge difference! So, sometimes when things just aren't going right, then we need to evaluate our attitudes.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, for your mercy, for just being our God, and for all things. Help us to be thankful and positive always. Don't let us destroy our lives with negativity. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
