Purify The House!
Monday's Devotion (3-12-07)
"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." Proverbs 28:13 (KJV)
This goes along with our devotion from the other day. If you don't confess that you have sins, then your sins simply can't be forgiven. But we're not just to confess our sins, we must also forsake all sins that we know we're doing. If you don't know something is a sin then how are you supposed to give it up? I think we lie to ourselves sometimes and say, "I don't think this is a sin," but yet it feels so wrong to us. If you feel dirty or feel like you're doing something wrong, then you probably are! But hey, that's why the Bible is there, well one reason anyway. It's there so we can refer to it, so we can study it and live our lives righteously and prosper. If you're not sure whether or not something you're doing is a sin, then refer to the Bible. You can even ask us here, I'm sure that one of our readers or myself can answer. If nobody can answer it, then I'll go look up the answer.
If we say we have no sin, then we are liars. It is too easy to sin not to sin... It's so easy for us, because it's in our nature. But just because it's in our nature, doesn't make it right. But anyone who says or acts as if they have no sin, is a liar and they're not really Christians until they confess their sins and attempt to forsake them. We'll never be perfect in this life, but we can work towards that goal as if it's obtainable. It's not obtainable in this life, but if we work towards it then it will be obtainable in the life to come! We're going to fall again and again and again and again, but the Lord will help us back up. Don't be ashamed to confess that you're a sinner, be ashamed if you don't confess it. Don't sweep your sins under the carpet, let Jesus come and clean the sins out. He doesn't just sweep them under a rug, HE CLEANS THEM OUT! He throws them away, He purifies the house! If your house isn't purified, if you sweep everything under a rug... guess what'll happen? You're going to get sick! You don't want to get spiritually sick, it can be fatal.
Also, it's important to remember that you also can't be forgiven, if you do not forgive others.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all of those who've wronged us. Help us to obey you, and to confess and forsake our sins. Also, help us to forgive anyone that we have yet to forgive. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
