Color Blind Society

Friday's Devotion (3-9-07)

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28 (KJV)

Today, I want to talk about something that's very stupid to say the least. I'm talking about discrimination. There is even discrimination among us believers... Some of us might be Baptists, while others are Catholic. We have all of these denominations, and it's almost like a denominational war at times. We lose sight of what's really important, and that's whether or not we love Jesus. If you tell me a Pentecostal, a Baptist, or a Catholic can't love Jesus then I'm going to tell you that you're crazy. We need to love our brothers and sisters no matter what they are. I personally don't believe we should have denominations at all, but we do and they aren't going away anytime soon. So, I've come to realize that if they love Jesus, then it doesn't really matter. Of course this verse isn't about denominations, but I felt like talking about that.

Of course there are more serious types of discrimination: Racial discrimination is a big problem. I don't believe that it's as big of a problem with the youth anymore. It's hard to find a racists teenager and that's a beautiful thing! When I was growing up, my dad was a racist. From him, I saw how stupid it really was. Boy, when my sister had a baby from a black man, we thought there would be more trouble from him than there was. He actually loved his grand-daughter to death. And she loved him, now that he's gone she misses him so very much. I guess my point is that with love there are no color boundaries. If you can find love in your heart, then it doesn't matter if someone is black or white, or Hispanic, etc. We all have red blood. It's time to stop discriminating, and to stop stereo-typing and start loving. It's time for us to be color blind when it comes to other people.

Also, I'm going to ask for your prayers. Yesterday, I signed up to Penn Foster online to become a Pharmacy Technician. Pray that it works out and that I'll get through the school and get my certification. Thanks! If you guys haven't noticed, I like to keep you all updated on what's going on in my life. That seems to be one of the things that makes this site so special to me, sharing with one another. That's also a great thing about the internet... It's a color blind society. Unless someone goes around saying, "I'm white," or "I'm black," you really don't know nor do you care.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to love you and others, let us be color blind when it comes to other people. Don't let us discriminate against any person, but let us love all. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
