God's Machine

Wednesday's Devotion (3-7-07)

"When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them." Isaiah 41:17 (KJV)

When I just looked at this verse, a thought hit me like a ton of bricks. Read this verse again and then read this: You are His hands! You are the tool by which God provides to the poor and needy. Think about it, if you see a needy man on the street and you don't help Him... What if God was counting on you to help that man? Sure, He'll find someone else to use, but He was still counting on you. How can we continue to sit back and let God down? How can we continue to be broken tools? If we are His tools and we aren't working properly, then we are BROKEN TOOLS! I don't want to be a broken tool, I want to be a mighty tool! I want to be the Lord's POWER Drill! When I see a problem, I want to fix it with the Lord's help. I can't say that I've done a great job at that thus far, but through prayer us broken tools can be repaired.

It's really a beautiful thing how God created us. He created us in a way that would make us dependent upon each other. Sure you can say you're "independent," but there's going to be times in your life when you need a helping hand. First off, you're always going to need God's hand, but times will come when you need others as well. I certainly don't want to be a person that nobody helps because I never helped anyone. I also don't want to be a person undeserving of the help that I receive from others. If I don't give help to others, then I am undeserving of their help, but I'm still not going to be too proud to take it. To complete my thought, I just think it would be great to see God's "Machine," working perfectly... Where everyone helps everyone, whether it be financially, emotionally, physically, spiritually, or whatever. We talk about how people need financial help, but it's certainly not always financial help that they need. Sometimes they need emotional help, or spiritual guidance, and the list goes on. There is more than one way to love someone, and let's just hope that we can love others in every way possible.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to be your soldiers, carrying out your missions and loving one another as we should. Don't ever let us pass up an opportunity to show love towards another human being. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
