Mercy and Compassion
Thursday's Devotion (3-1-07)
"For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment." James 2:13 (KJV)
Some of us are expecting God's mercy, but we are not showing others any mercy in life. If we give no mercy, how can we receive mercy? Mercy comes in many forms: It comes through generosity, compassion, love, kindness, etc. Some would think that mercy is just "going easy" on someone that did something wrong. No, that's not all. Mercy is caring for others, and helping others too. When someone is hungry, showing them mercy is giving them food and love.
If we want God's mercy, we're going to have to give mercy to others as well. It's not always easy to show mercy, but we must always keep in mind the mercy of Christ, and how we showed us mercy while we are not worthy of it ourselves. So, make today a new day and start giving mercy and compassion.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to be compassionate and help us to have mercy towards one another. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
