Aren't You Hungry?
Wednesday's Devotion (2-21-07)
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
A lot of minister's only baptize in the name of one, usually in the name of Jesus. It's important that when you find someone to baptize you, make sure they baptize in the name of all three: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. Any other kind of baptism is simply incomplete. If you have not been baptized in the name of all three, then it is not too late... Go do it!
Now, I want to focus on the part of these verses that says, "... Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." As this is another thing that many preachers do not do. Many preachers want you to simply eat all of your spiritual food out of their hands, this leaves no room for spiritual maturity. Some how, some ministers have us believe that only they are capable of reading the Word of God and explaining it to us. This is not true, because the Holy Spirit will teach you! He will guide you, and with the Holy Spirit you can learn the Word of God properly! When it comes to teachings, I have had more success with prayer and Bible study at home than I have in a church or with some man's study guide. Am I saying not to go to church? NO! I'm just saying: Do not accept Church as your only means to spiritual food. Eat your spiritual food at home too, 7 days a week. I don't know anyone that doesn't have any kind of food: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, etc for 6 days and then on the 7th they eat once. If it's not that way with physical food for our body, then it should not be this way with spiritual food either. Don't EVER let anyone tell you that they are the only way you'll learn the Word of God, because that is a lie! If you don't have a Bible, then check out: http://www.BlueLetterBible.org you can read for free online. Yesterday we talked about God's home being IN US... We are His temple, that means one thing: He is always available to us, we don't have to wait for Sunday, and as a matter of fact we're not supposed to wait! We're supposed to take full advantage of our access to God, and speak with Him daily and study His Word daily. We're also supposed to obey Him, and follow in His ways... DAILY! If you want to be a Christian, then you must know that it's full time! There are no days off, nor would you want there to be.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to study, follow and obey your Word. Also, help us believers to be baptized correctly in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
