It Shall Be Done!

Thursday's Devotion (2-15-07)

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19 (KJV)

If God said it, it shall be done. God gives us many promises, some we find through the scriptures and others God will speak to our hearts. Some times these promises take time to come to pass, so we have to have patience. Just because God said says He'll do something, doesn't mean He'll do it RIGHT NOW. You can't set God's timing by your alarm clock. You can't say, "God, you have until 5pm to answer my prayer." God will answer your prayers, and God will make good His promises... BUT in HIS timing, not ours.

Also, a good thing to do is that when you think God is talking to you then test it... Go find out if what you're hearing matches the scriptures. Obviously God will never tell you to go kill someone, because His word says, "Thou shalt not kill." God will not have you steal something as His word tells us that He will provide, and it also says, "Thou shalt not steal." Always go back to the Word of God. If it doesn't match scripture, then God is simply not saying it. By "doesn't match," I mean if it contradicts scripture then it is not God saying it!

So, I come to this conclusion... If God has yet to make good on a promise, then there are three possible reasons for it:

1. He never made the promise to begin with.

2. It simply isn't time yet.

3. You don't believe that He will fulfill His promise.

So, be patient, verify the promises through the scriptures, and have faith that God will deliver! We have spell-check on these word programs to give us confidence in our spelling. Well, the Bible is our "faith check." It gives us faith through the written word. If we read it in the Bible, then we have an easier time believing it.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to have the faith and patience that we need. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
