No Easy Way Out

Friday's Devotion (1-26-07)

"A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent." Proverbs 28:20 (KJV)

I'm actually reminded of that song from the movie Rocky IV, "There ain't no easy way out, there's no short cut home..." A lot of us have had an "easy way out," offered to us. But we found that those easy ways out weren't morally correct. They weren't godly or of God. Surely, us poor people could easily sell drugs or something like that to get out of poverty, but that's not the true way out. That's the so called, "Easy way out." And the only short cut that is, is a short cut to the depths of Hell. A faithful man would rather be poor than to do wicked.

In the end that's really how we're going to be judged isn't it? Which of us tried to find an easy way out? Which of us sold our souls for riches or other gain? Who was our god? Riches, people, etc, or God Almighty? When someone is tempting you to do evil for temporary gain, you must remember that the Lord will bless you even greater IF you decline their offer. Any one of us can take short cuts, but it is those of us who choose not to who will be blessed beyond measure.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to be faithful and not wicked and unloyal. Help us to make the right decisions, decisions that please you. In Jesus name. A-men!

God bless
