Abide In Jesus
Wednesday's Devotion (1-24-07)
"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." 1 John 2:6 (KJV)
Anyone else having some trouble with this one lately? I know I am! Here we are, saying that we abide in Jesus and Jesus in us, but yet it isn't showing through us. Our actions aren't what Jesus would do. I notice that people have their little, "What Would Jesus Do?" merchandise. That's nice and all, but it's more than just a catch phrase! It is something that we have to think about when making our day to day decisions. What would Jesus do if His electric went out? What would He do if He was going to be evicted from His house? Put Jesus in your situation, and study the Word of God... Find out what Jesus would do, and then apply that answer to your situation! Jesus suffered all manners of persecution, yet He was without sin. There isn't one situation in your life that Jesus can't understand.
We should literally do what Jesus would do, and that's
going to take some great faith and love. You're going to have to step out in
faith and in love. If you see a man that needs healing, then what would Jesus
do? He would walk up to that man and heal Him! If your faith is too small to
pull that off, then just walk up to the man and pray for him. Give him your
love, and anything else that he might need from you. I challenge you to come up
with one situation where there is no answer to the question, "What would Jesus
do?" Post the question here, or send it through the website if it's private. I
guarantee that if you're seeking an answer from Jesus, you'll find it some
place! You can't just ignore it though, you have to apply the answers to your
life. It's not easy to do, I can't pretend that it is. But through Christ it is
possible! All things are possible through Christ Jesus who strengthens us!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this message and for all things. Please forgive us of all our sins as we forgive all those who've wronged us. Help us to walk as you walked, and to talk as you talked. Let the world see Jesus through us. In Jesus name. A-men!
God bless
